Minutes of SFDS planning meeting of 06 Aug 2009

Here are the minutes from our meeting at SIM on 06 Aug 2009. Please review and post corrections as comments and I will integrate them into the body of the article.

In Attendance

Task Breakdown

We have insufficient volunteers to manage all of the tasks listed on the meeting's agenda. Therefore, tasks have been combined and assigned as follows:

• Presentations, Friday 18 Sept 2009 at the National Library Building, managed by Darrel Chua and Chris Harvey.
• Exhibits/Volunteers/Logistics, Saturday 19 September 2009 at the National Library Building, managed by Kang Ghee Keong (Updated 08 Aug 2009: and P V Anthony).
• Tutorials/Installfests, Saturday 19 September 2009 at SMU-SIS, managed by Mike Veltman (we need a comanager for this event - why not you? - contact us!)
• Vendor Exhibits, Saturday September 2009 at SMU-SIS was dropped due to lack of volunteers.
• Publicity and university out-reach, managed by C David Rigby and Wong Yi Wen, assisted by Lim Kin Chew.

• Web sites, managed by C David Rigby and Gaurav Vaidya.

Other DIscussions/News

• Guide Tan and Wong Yi Wen discussed Software Freedom Day 2009 preparations by their student group NTUOSS at Nanyang Technological University. They plan two events:
  • Exhibits and recruitment at during orientation week on 17 September 2009 at NTU.
  • An Installfest on 21 September (this date may change).
• Lim Kin Chew proposed to conduct a workshop using systems installed to, and booted from, USB flash drives. He has yet to determine if it will be conducted at SIM University in the week prior to 18 September, or as a tutorial at SMU-SIS SMU-SIS on 19 September.
